SINGAPORE: Local filmmaker Jack Neo has said he hopes to win back the trust of his wife that was lost following his affair with a 22-year-old freelance model.
He said this during a MediaCorp radio talk show on Wednesday morning.
It has been a dramatic month for the besieged director, after he was publicly criticised for his affair with actress-model Wendy Chong.
While his appearance on the morning talk show of Chinese station Love 97.2 focused mainly on his movie, Being Human, as well as his career direction, Mr Neo spoke briefly on the news that had hogged the headlines.
He also asked to be left alone to sort out his problems, especially with his wife. "I hope to take the time now to be with my family, my wife. My wife has been supportive of me on all fronts, so I hope to gain back her trust and resume the life we had before. It will not be easy. Believe me. Even if you see us smiling, but we are still hurting on the inside."
Mr Neo also appealed to his fans to give him a second chance. "I regret this deeply at this point and I hope all of you can give me a chance to be a better person, to be a good father and good husband."
The dust has still not settled, as a second woman linked to the scandal, Foyce Le Xuan, has filed a police report alleging that Mr Neo had harassed her by sending messages to her mobile phone. She also claimed that a few other men had made threatening phone calls to her.
Meanwhile, Foyce told MediaCorp that those nasty calls have stopped. She said the police have told her some callers have been traced and are being sought for questioning.
She added that she believed Mr Neo did not made those calls as she had spoken to the callers.
Police said investigations are continuing.
