SINGAPORE : MediaCorp actress Zoe Tay has pulled out of new Mandarin drama "Lost & Found" for "personal reasons", according to Xin.sg.
No, she is not pulling a Fiona Xie and going AWOL on us, but the Queen of Caldecott Hill is rumoured to be pregnant and had to drop out as lead actress of the crime drama in which she plays an undercover cop.
Tay and her pilot husband Philip Chionh already have two sons, Brayden, five, and Ashton, three.
Executive producer of the series, Paul Yuen, confirmed on Wednesday that Tay, 42, had quit the show two weeks ago and will be replaced by veteran actress Chen Liping.
Filming for "Lost & Found" was scheduled to start mid April and Yuen said Tay had been looking forward to the action scenes as well as the role as it was different.
However, he stressed that while it was a pity that Tay could not be part of the production, Chen was not a substitute.
Yuen said, "Liping was one of our choices when we were selecting the cast. But we weren't sure when she will wrap up filming [long-running drama] 'Your Hand In Mine' so we did not pick her."
Tay's manager said the actress has been busy shooting the final scenes for the movie "Love Cuts" in which she plays a breast cancer victim, and did not wish to be interviewed.
She added that Tay has not been feeling well lately, and has promised to explain her decision to quit the series in due time.
Last year, actress Fiona Xie abruptly withdrew from Channel 8 drama "Together" citing "personal reasons", leaving producers in a mad scramble to find a replacement.
She totally disappeared from our radar for several months before revealing in an interview with entertainment magazine 8 Days in December that she was leaving MediaCorp for Hong Kong to pursue a career in photography.
