SINGAPORE : TV host and actress Andrea Fonseka celebrated her last days of swinging singlehood by painting the town red on Saturday night.
Her friends organised an all-day hen party that included a brunch and beauty session - all done in a Dukes Of Hazzard's Daisy Duke theme.
Which meant denim short shorts and a lot of leg.
When TODAY caught up with the 25-year-old Beam artiste, her posse was on their way to a late dinner at Mimolette, after which they planned to go bar-hopping at Clarke Quay and party it up at Attica.
How is she taking advantage of her last night of freedom? "I'm wearing a very short skirt!" Andrea laughed.
The church wedding will be held on Friday at her childhood parish in Petaling Jaya, and the wedding reception the following evening at the J W Marriott in Kuala Lumpur. Said Andrea of her fiance, Paul Dewar, a lawyer based in Perth: "He's a lovely man. He's pleasant and kind, patient and giving. Very, very giving."
The couple, who met at a bar in Perth and have dated for over two years, plan to keep their post-marriage relationship long-distance. For a while, at least.
"I've got so much work going on in Singapore and also in KL, planning Miss Universe Malaysia and all that stuff. And he's just been offered partnership in his firm," said Andrea. The former beauty queen is now the national director of Miss Universe Malaysia 2010.
"Both our careers are going really well right now and it seems silly to get up and go to the other person's country when you've got so much going on for yourself. And since we've been doing long distance all the way anyway, we're pretty okay in that department. We know we're going to live together eventually. It will definitely be within the next five years, because we want to have kids in the next five years."
Exactly how crazy it was going to get on her hen night, though, Andrea could only imagine. "My friends won't tell me what's going on! They've got this naughty look in their eyes," laughed the former Live The Dream host. "But we've already had a couple of bottles of wine and a couple of bottles of Champagne today! We intend to paint the town red."
