SHANGHAI: Taiwan singer-actor Jimmy Lin revealed on Tuesday that he had quietly registered his marriage to Taiwan model Kelly Chen, reported Chinese media.
Speaking to reporters on the set of the upcoming Chinese drama "Single Princess and Blind Dates" which he stars in, the actor said he wanted to make it official.
The pair had previously only gotten engaged.
"I don't want to keep running and hiding, besides, everyone had given me their blessings," said Lin.
The star, who turns 36 next month, had been dating Chen for more than five years but kept his relationship under wraps for fear of losing fans.
However, when his son was born in September 2009, Lin said he became a lot more mature in his thinking and decided to go public with his relationship and told his fans about Chen.
Fortunately, his fans did not seem to mind and even congratulated him.
Lin, who once dated "Princess Pearl" star Ruby Lin, went on to add that Tuesday's shoot – a wedding scene – had gotten him thinking about how he still owed his wife a wedding ceremony.
"Everything is going as planned. I already have an idea what it will be like. I will make the wedding a very special and romantic one but I can't tell you any more about it yet," he said.
Lin's career has been a colourful one.
The singer-actor entered showbiz at the tender age of 17 and reached the height of his popularity in the early 1990s, earning the nickname "Little Whirlwind" in Taiwan, as well as being named one of the "Four Little Heavenly Kings".
In addition, Lin is also a race car driver, a powerboat racer and a businessman. He reportedly owns, among other businesses, a café, a car dealership and even an IT company.
