SEOUL: Prosecutors in Korea on Monday have found Big Bang member Dae-sung not guilty in a fatal road accident that caused the death of a motorcyclist in May this year.
According to earlier reports, police said the deceased motorcyclist, identified only as Hyun by the authorities, had been drinking and crashed into a lamp post on the night of May 31.
The collision left him lying on the road with head and neck injuries, until Dae-sung ran him over 132 seconds later, dragging Hyun's body 28.8 metres down the road.
The prosecution said that due to a lack of evidence, investigations had failed to establish whether Hyun was alive when Dae-sung ran him over while speeding.
Prosecutors also did not rule out the possibility that the motorcyclist, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his death, could have died from the initial collision.
Dae-sung was found to be driving at between 70 and 80km/h on the night of the accident. The speed limit is 60km/h.
With the case now officially closed, Dae-sung is expected to return to his music-related activities alongside his Big Bang mates.
