They are known as Hi-5 and entertaining 2-8 year-olds with their vibrant music and movement is their job.

The group is made up of 5 members- Kelie Hoggart, Stevie, Nathan Foley, Sun-Park and Charlie Delaney who are always seen bursting with energy.

But behind their colourful and 'kiddy' outfits, are they really who they are on stage?

While spunky Hi-5 member Kelie Hoggart thinks the roles they play tend to be a little over-the-top, there is undoubtedly an element of their true self which is projected.

Children love to watch them but what does the group love about their job?

Stevie, who proclaims himself the rocker of the group, is an avid music lover and performing in front of the children in every show is an exciting experience.

Meanwhile, the svelte Charlie who practices yoga said she enjoys the balancing and stretching that she has to do on stage.

Despite joining the group in mid 2006, Sun-Park has gelled in so well with her team that she feels that she has been in this for a long time. Pak was doing a little bit of drama before joining Hi-5 and that helps her to share tips with the group.

Amid their hectic work schedules and having to travel constantly, what do they do in their free time?

Kelie and Stevie prove to be more sporty among the rest. While Kelie enjoys a game of golf, Stevie engages himself in tennis or soccer.

Nathan, who claims to be the strongest man in the world, but considered the ‘child’ by his other members, loves writing music when he retreats home.

On the other hand, Pak said she simply enjoys the quality time she gets to spend with her family, friends and loved ones. Charlie seconds this and adds that being a dutiful housewife who does the cooking and cleaning gives her immense contentment.

Since dealing with kids is their job, Hi-5 should know the secret to putting a constant smile on a child’s face every morning.

In unison they admitted that this could be achieved by playing their song track ‘Happy’ to uplift any child’s mood. - CNA/vm
