French first lady Carla Bruni is set to release her third pop album on July 21 this year in France, Britain, Germany and her native Italy. The album contains 14 songs, most of which were written before she met President Nicolas Sarkozy.
According to Bruni’s agent, Bertrand de Labbey, the album which is yet to be named includes a vintage Bob Dylan tune, a piece based on a poem by French author Michel Houellebecq and an Italian song.
Some of the songs on the album have interesting titles such as “My Junk,” which is about drugs. Bruni composed the music and wrote the lyrics to most of the songs on the album. "Ninety-five percent of the songs on the album were written before she met the president," said De Labbey.
Bruni only ventured into the music industry in her mid-thirties. The 40-year-old former supermodel married President Sarkozy in February after their three-month romance.
Her first album "Quelqu'un M'a Dit" (Someone Told Me) relased in 2002 was a huge success with some 1.2 million copies sold in France and 800,000 abroad. But her second album "No Promises," which was released in 2007, did not enjoy the same success, selling only 80,000 copies. The album featured English poems
