SINGAPORE : Caldecott Hill’s resident funny lady, Kym Ng and a cast of good-looking babes and hunks, including Joanne Peh and Christopher Lee, all came out in force to East Coast Park’s Big Splash, revealing all, at least on their latest projects that will be hitting the small screens very soon.

Beach. Ball. Babes
Probably the most highly anticipated ‘sports’ drama, would be "Beach. Ball. Babes". It says it all and is everything you’d imagine with MediaCorp’s best looking actors and actresses on call, come July 7 when the drama premiers.

Viewers will have the chance to see their favourite stars sweat it out as they jump, dive, set and spike, like true volleyball pros in the drama that revolves around the lives of a girl’s volleyball team.

And yes, they will be dressed just like professionals too.

Looking good amongst a cast of gorgeous lookers is as difficult as it seems.

The already trim actress, Dawn Yeoh who plays Wang Sixing, a 20-year-old mathematics undergraduate, said she felt compelled to lose weight in order to keep up with the toned figures of other ‘babes’, especially Joanne Peh who plays twins, Liu Feng and Liu Xuan, in the show.

The show’s other leading babe Jesseca Liu, plays the role of Cai Yanfang, a blunt, self-centred, aspiring national volleyball player. She was however missing from the media conference on Tuesday, as she was down with a bout of chickenpox.

Making her first appearance in a Chinese speaking drama role is former Miss Singapore Universe runner-up, Jade Seah.

“I feel like it’s a personal achievement for me. It’s so funny because I talk to friends and they say stuff like ‘Oh my gosh! I can’t believe you’re doing a Chinese drama’ or ‘your Chinese teacher should see this’” said a rather excited Jade who is very obviously still more comfortable conversing in English.

Seah plays the character of Zhuang Yaya aka ‘Yaya Papaya’ (local slang to describe an aloof, obnoxious person).

But what’s a Channel 8 drama without its fair share of love triangles and complicated matters of the heart? That’s where Christopher Lee steps in with the role of Ma Tian Wu, the resident hunk and ladies man with a dark past.

Describing his role as one that wasn’t difficult for him at all to portray, Lee said: “I found it quite fun actually. The drama combined sports and drama together so filming felt like I was on a holiday in Sentosa” (where the cast filmed most of their volleyball scenes.)

Backed by a stellar veteran supporting cast of Pan Lingling, Hong Huifang, Richard Low and Ye Shi Pin, the drama also features 2003 Star Search winner Cui Peng.

Beach. Ball. Babes. airs every Monday to Friday, at 9pm on Channel 8

Supreme Matron
Those who have skeletons in their closets (literally) and other items that come close to being skeletons, like your favourite pair of shoes from 25 years ago which you have never got round to throwing out – have no fear, help is here!

"Supreme Matron" aka Kym Ng will come to the rescue in the latest variety show that will bring Channel 8 viewers to the homes of families who have a ‘messy problem’.

Her mission - to help them clean up and get their homes back to its original condition.

But don’t think for a moment that Ng is actually going to be mopping the floors or moving things for the home owners!

In a somewhat spin off from UK reality programme, "Super Nanny", Ng will supervise, give the families storage tips and get them into a different cleaning routine.

While this may sound like a simple task, Ng begs to differ.

“The most difficult thing is to get them to move their backsides!” joked the straight shooting Ng. “Some of the children they don’t do housework and you can’t really blame them because their parents really dote on them. So they don’t know where to start, don’t know how to do it... it never occurred to them that they have to maybe put aside one hour (of their time) to do housework and keep the house clean.”

Ng recounted that in one episode, she even had to resort to calling in a psychologist to counsel the house owners who were compulsive hoarders. Believe it or not, this is a recognised medical condition, with symptoms that include the excessive collection of items that have little or no value.

There are many other good reasons to catch "Supreme Matron" when it airs, apart from the many laughs that you know will be generated by the bubbly Ng, who also will be dressing up as various objects, from broom to cockroach!

Ng says the show is one that viewers will easily relate to. “You can actually see yourself in every episode. You will find (yourself saying) ‘That’s me!’ or ‘I did that’, something familiar in (every episode).

“Even for me, during the (filming of the) first episode I (understood) that’s the reason why I kept all those things in my house!” Ngrevealed.

"Supreme Matron" will air July 2, every Wednesday at 8.30pm on Channel 8.
