LOS ANGELES : Three years after they stunned Hollywood with the annulment of their four-month marriage, country star Kenny Chesney finally breaks his silence about the split from Oscar-winning actress Renée Zellweger, in his new album.
The break up was a major inspiration behind "Lucky Old Sun" which Chesney began penning just weeks after the annulment.
"There are about four or five songs that are about Renée," he said. "It's a pretty emotional record for me, a very honest record. There are some songs on this record that needed to be written."
"I've let myself be more emotionally vulnerable in some of the lyrics. I think that was good therapy," revealed the crooner in an interview with Newsweek.
Zellweger had cited "fraud" as the reason for annulling their brief 2005 marriage, sparking rumours that Chesney was gay - which he vehemently denies.
Despite the "horrible" break-up, Chesney and his ex are friends again.
So how would she react to the tunes? "I don't know. It's unpredictable," he said.
