LOS ANGELES : Michael Jackson’s spokesman has denied reports that the King of Pop is suffering from a life-threatening lung disease and needs a lung transplant.
Calling the reports a "total fabrication", Dr Tohme Tohme said that author Ian Halperin made "wild allegations" to promote his unauthorised biography of the 50-year-old singer.
On Monday, the media carried stories about Jackson saying he was suffering a rare genetic illness known as Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and that he can barely speak and is almost blind in his left eye.
"Concerning this author’s allegations, we would hope in the future that legitimate media will not continue to be exploited by such an obvious attempt to promote this unauthorised biography," Dr Thome said in a statement.
"Mr Jackson is in fine health, and finalising negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances."
The singer has faced many controversies in the recent years. He was previously accused of child abuse charges in 2005 and is famous for undergoing multiple plastic surgeries.
And on Wednesday, he was hit with a law suit from a woman by the name Billie Jean Jackson who claims to be the surrogate mother of Jackson's son Blanket.
She has filed a suit in Los Angeles to seek US$1 million and joint legal and physical custody of the six-year-old child whose real name is Prince Michael II. However, Jackson insists Blanket was a product of artificial insemination.
