Blockbuster tourism hopes for new 'Australia' movie

LONDON : This year's 'Sexiest Man Alive' could not take the heat.

Hugh Jackman has admitted to be the first person to suffer from the soaring temperatures in the Australian outback while filming for Baz Luhrmann’s epic "Australia".

Despite his macho image and the burly cowhand he plays in the film, the 40-year-old actor revealed that he was "the first to faint".

Speaking of his wobbly moment in the unforgiving heat, Jackman said, "There I was on horseback, waiting around for the next shot, wearing a woollen shirt, leather pants and a jacket with lining in it, with a horse that got spooked by umbrellas, so there were no umbrellas to shade me."

"About 45 minutes later I felt a hand on my back and remembered saying, 'What are you doing?' and this guy said, 'What am I doing, mate? You're at a 45-degree angle to the horse!'"

Hugh insists he soon learnt to cope with the extreme conditions and the slow pace on the set of the movie.

"Luckily, the costume department cut that jacket out of the rest of the movie so I didn’t have to wear it," he said.

The epic film sees Jackman as an old-fashioned cattle drover who enters the life of an English heiress, played by Nicole Kidman, when he is enlisted to help her protect her Northern Territory ranch from being taken over.
