NEW YORK – Michael Jackson’s ground breaking 14-minute“Thriller” video will be recreated into a musical theater production with the help of the Prince of Pop himself.

“This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of ‘Thriller’ and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process,” said the Nederland Organization, which has acquired the rights to the musical.

“Thriller The Musical” will transform the horror film spoof based on the title song into “live theater and musical excellence”. The musical is also set to include songs from Jackson’s albums “Thriller” and “Off The Wall”.

The “Thriller” video features Jackson as a boy who turns into a werewolf in the middle of a date and eventually breaks into dance with zombies.

The video was first aired in 1983 and was directed by filmmaker John Landis, who said that the video cost $500,000 which is about 10 times the cost of the standard music video of the time.
