SINGAPORE : Hong Kong actor Edison Chen said he has no plans to return to show business for now.

Chen, who was recently embroiled in a sex scandal, was in Singapore on Friday to help promote a fast-food chain.

Making a rare public appearance since the controversy, the actor said the break has given him time to do some serious soul searching.

He has also been spending time doing charity work which he said he enjoys.

Casting his eyes into the future, Chen said he hopes to produce his own films some day.

"I've been thinking about things I've done wrong in the past, and trying to find the right in it. The most important thing is, I'm trying to turn something negative into positive. And I think that's something that a lot of my fans, that are young, need to see an example of, that when you fail, it doesn't mean it's over forever," said Chen. - CNA /ls
