LOS ANGELES : Although things seemed to have cooled down between recently reunited couple Rihanna and Chris Brown, Los Angeles police are leaving no stone unturned in their investigations of Brown’s alleged attack on his girlfriend.
Exclusive photos from the high-profile case of domestic assault could determine whether Brown, 19, faces a charge carrying a likely penalty of probation or time behind bars.
So far, no charges have been filed against the R&B star who was arrested on February 8.
As a first-time defendant, Brown’s charge would depend on how badly his 21-year-old girlfriend was hurt.
"After examining police photos, medical records or reviewing victim statements, the injuries usually speak for themselves," said LA criminal defence attorney Jeffery Rubenstein.
Photos of the inside of the rented Lamborghini Brown was driving on the night of the alledged attack show Rihanna’s blood near the handbrake as well as signs of a violent struggle.
The shots clearly show multiple blood stains and smears, scuff marks and a missing cigarette lighter.
Experts said the crime scene photos could be enough to convict Brown on battery charges and put him behind bars.
Though Rihanna was almost killed during the attack, Star magazine reported that the pair had secretly tied the knot during their reunion at rap mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs’ Miami house over the weekend.
A source told the magazine, "Rihanna is looking for the husband-and-two-kids deal before she turns 25. She believes in fairy tales, and she wants to live hers with Chris. She was totally up front and confessed to him, 'I can’t live without you.'"
News of their secret wedding was quick to make its way all over the web but the stars have yet to comment or deny the issue.
