LOS ANGELES – Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid are set to play Hillary and Bill Clinton in the upcoming film "Special Relationship".
The movie will show how the former US President's "inappropriate relationship" with White House intern Monica Lewinsky nearly ended his term in power.
Quaid reportedly beat four other leading actors - Russell Crowe, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins - to snag the role of Bill.
"This is a big role for both of them. Playing Hillary, a wife who stands by her unfaithful husband, will be something she can get her teeth stuck into," said a source.
The film, which will be shot in London and Washington this summer, follows the lives of these political figures from the period of 1997 to 2002, from the time when British Prime Minister Tony Blair came to power in the UK to the 2000 US presidential elections.
The former US president was threatened with impeachment when news of his relationship with Lewinsky between 1995 and 1997 came to light.
"Special Relationship" is said to be the final film of Peter Morgan's political trilogy which includes "The Deal" and "The Queen".
"The Deal" followed Blair's journey to his acquired power in the British Labour party while "The Queen" focused on how the British Royal Family handled the death of Princess Diana.
Michael Sheen who played Blair in both films, is set to reprise his role as the former British Prime Minister in "Special Relationship". It will show Blair’s growing frustration with Clinton as his attention moves from politics to his own personal crisis.
