SINGAPORE: It’s less than a week until the Star Awards on Sunday evening, where the best of Mandarin television will be honoured, and the polls are heating up as the public vote for their favourite artistes.

Most of the Seven Princesses have claimed their spot in the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes, with Jesseca Liu, who had been trailing behind, catching up this week and edging out Quan Yifeng. Fans of the chatty host had better buck up if you want Yifeng to remain in the competition.

Meanwhile, there’s also an exciting fight on the guys’ side of the warring fence. After getting bumped off the list last week, Christopher Lee has regained his position in the Top 10. The big news? Mark Lee has kicked Pierre Png out of the elite club. Meow.

The female artistes currently leading the pack are Felicia Chin, Fiona Xie, Ivy Lee, Jeanette Aw, Joanne Peh, Rui En, Vivian Lai, Xiang Yun, Yvonne Lim and late-bloomer Jesseca.

In the running for Most Popular Male Artiste are Christopher and Mark, Bryan Wong, Elvin Ng, Marcus Chin, Pornsak, Qi Yuwu, Tay Ping Hui, Zhang Yao Dong and Zheng Geping.

Artistes like Adrian Pang, Chen Hanwei, Dawn Yeoh and Michelle Chia are trailing behind — but it’s not too late for you to change their fate.

Public voting makes up 50 per cent of the Star Awards results, and the lines will remain open until 9pm on Sunday. Carpe diem!

Catch the Star Awards 2009 live this Sunday at 7pm on MediaCorp TV Channel 8. Poll numbers are available at
