TAIPEI : Taiwanese rapper Wilber Pan's new single featuring American R&B singer-songwriter, Akon, has been banned in Hong Kong.
Shortly after its release in the city, the single "Be With You" off Pan's seventh album titled "007", was blocked because the lyrics contained the word 'morphine'.
Blaming this on cultural differences, Pan says that it is unfortunate that they ran into problems with the lyrics and the track cannot be released.
"My team and I are currently trying to solve the problem. I really do not know how I am going to explain this to Akon," he lamented.
"You like morphine, you soothe me" from the original lyrics was eventually changed to "You like more, you soothe me". The word 'sh*t' was also removed from another line.
This new version will be used in Hong Kong as well as Mainland China, while Taiwan, where the album will be launched on May 22, will stick with the original track.
