HONG KONG : Hong Kong tycoon Richard Li's girlfriend, actress Isabella Leong, and his newborn son Ethan Li Cheung Chi may be staying in San Francisco to escape the media glare but newspaper Apple Daily revealed that the family could eventually settle in Singapore.

The newspaper reported on Monday that Li thinks that Singapore which is just a three and a half hour flight away from Hong Kong, is more convenient for him to visit the mother and child.

Hong Kong, he said, is out of the question as he does not want the child "to grow up in a goldfish tank".

The Macau-born Leong who gave birth to Ethan in Canada in April, has put her promising film career on hold and is likely to continue to do so. Li, the chairman of Hong Kong telecom giant PCCW, has said that he wants Leong, 21, to be a full-time mother.

The "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon" actress and Li, 42, have been dating for over a year but the romance was never confirmed by the couple until last week. The pair have not discussed plans to tie the knot.

This is the first child for both Li and Leong.
