HONG KONG : When Hong Kong celebrity couple Carina Lau and Tony Leung tied the knot in a lavish wedding in Bhutan last year, it was widely believed that Lau had pressured her boyfriend of 19 years into marriage.
While Leung, 47, did need some help from singer friend Faye Wong before he popped the question, Lau revealed that it wasn't first time lucky for the actor.
The 44-year-old actress had rejected Leung's proposal ten years ago because she felt that he was "like a kid".
"He liked to be alone, but yet when he is enjoying his loneliness, he likes to see me having fun," she said.
As it turns out, even married life couldn't change his brooding personality and the missus seems to have resigned to fate, "I still think that he will never grow up and after waiting for 20 years, if I want to get married, I will go ahead."
As with most showbiz newly-weds, much media attention was focused on the couple's family plans - there were speculations aplenty on Lau's pregnancy, which were, of course, untrue.
Lau once said that even though they would like to have kids, they would let nature take its course.
However, Lau seems to have changed her tune and close friend Faye Wong had a big part to play in this, again.
In a recent interview in China, Lau revealed her desire to become a mum after Wong shared with her her experience and the joys of motherhood. The mother of two girls also urged Lau to follow in her footsteps.
If and when the day arrives, Lau said she would love to have a daughter as girls are usually more emotionally-attached to the family.
