TAIPEI : It has been five years since Taiwanese pop idol Jerry Yan's last solo album and on Sunday, the former member of popular boy band F4 celebrated the launch of his album "Freedom" with a bang. Literally.

More than 2,000 fans and close to 50 reporters turned up at a promotional event for his new CD at Taipei Wei Feng Plaza and during the autograph-signing session, the stage which Yan was on, collapsed, leaving a big U-shaped hole in the middle.

Yan was quickly ushered off stage and fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.

During the four-hour event, which was interrupted to allow for reconstruction of the stage, the 32-year-old talked openly about his work as well as his personal life.

He revealed that his hectic work schedule - he was working on his album while filming a new TV drama - had left him stressed and nervous, causing him to suffer from insomnia.

He not only lost a lot of weight as a result, the condition also affected his mood. Yan recalled how he would lose his temper during filming, slamming the table when he could not get the takes right.

However, any signs of nervousness were clearly absent during the event. Calm and composed, the singer-actor did not seem to mind being quizzed about his love life.

"I want to fall in love and have someone by my side," revealed Yan.

When asked if he is worried that his future girlfriend will be compared with rumoured exes, actresses Lin Chiling and Terri Kwan, Yan replied casually, "There nothing to compare between them."
