SINGAPORE : MediaCorp actress Fiona Xie has pulled out of Channel 8 year-end blockbuster "Together", once again fuelling speculation that the star could be leaving showbiz.
The 27-year-old was set to play the role of Huang Jing Hao, a materialistic girl which "viewers would love to hate", and a favourite of the series' scriptwriter.
Xie's manager said the actress, who is currently out of the country, had to pull out of the drama series to "attend to some urgent personal matters". She will return, assured her manager.
The production crew were only informed of Xie's withdrawal last week and are in a mad scramble to find a replacement.
Rumours of Xie quitting showbiz began swirling before it was announced that she had scored one of the lead roles in "Together", alongside Jeanette Aw, Dai Yangtian and Elvin Ng.
The 35-episode drama which traces the lives of six Singaporean youths from the 1960s to the present day, is set to air end November.
