GUANGZHOU : It was a night of highs and lows for popular Hong Kong singer Eason Chan, who was in Guangzhou for the final stop of his concert tour in China on Saturday night.
While fans showed much warmth and enthusiasm, Chan might have reached his lowest point when he burst into tears on stage while singing “Shall We Talk”, a song which touches on family, causing many to ponder the reason behind his outburst.
There has been speculation that the singer is under immense pressure having to bear the enormous cost of his father’s medical fees, and could also be facing a potential marriage crisis, media reported.
While Chan may have managed to get through the rest of his song list, reports said that the singer looked troubled throughout the night.
“I’m turning 35 in a few days, there will always be regrets in life, I have to learn how to relax,” said Chan during the concert, as tears welled up in his eyes.
Rumours have been flying that singer Kay Tse, has become the third party in Chan’s marriage with former actress Hilary Tsui. The rumour has reportedly become a source of tension between the couple, who have been married since 2006.
A source even said that Chan has been very cold towards his wife during the past half a year, leaving Tsui wondering if the rumours were true.
Frustrated by the situation, Chan had reportedly ignored Tsui’s phone calls, and even made excuses to return home late, causing Tsui to move back to her parents’ home in a huff a few days ago.
However, whether in an attempt to squash rumours of a marriage crisis or otherwise, Chan, who was guest performer at former Beyond members Paul Wong and Wong Ka Keung’s concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Monday, was spotted with Tsui and their daughter, Constance, in tow.
Tsui, who has acted in numerous films and shows in the past, is said to be trying to make a return to the entertainment scene in an effort to save her marriage. Having been a housewife since marriage, reports said Tsui hopes she can work to share in her husband’s financial burdens.
