SINGAPORE : Sebastian Tan, the entertainer behind the imitable "Broadway Beng", has achieved what every all-achieving ah beng has always secretly fantasised: He has shot his very own Karaoke music video.

And filmed on a sandy idyllic beach overseas (Siloso Beach - Sentosa is over a section of a sea, right?). With eight chio bus (not a form of transport but Hokkien for "pretty girls"). Let's see Phua Chu Kang beat that.

"I think we scared many Japanese tourists when we were filming our special 'Broadway Beng' music video in Sentosa," film-maker-turned-theatre director Royston Tan told TODAY, laughing.

"I mean, the girls and Sebastian were dressed like they were caught in a time warp. It was very funny to see everyone staring and looking quite shocked. Even the beach boys didn't quite know what was going on."

Added Royston: "And because there were eight girls this time round and very competitive screen time, it was hilarious to see them try and out-do each other with wackier karaoke music video moves!"

The "881" film-maker is in charge of super-sizing this fourth instalment of the Hokkien-English musical comedy cabaret - his theatre directorial debut. It's a perfect pairing, said Royston: "When the Broadway Beng combines power with this Techno Beng (referring to himself), you'll realise that Ah Bengs rule!"

And if Sebastian finishes writing his "Broadway Beng Movie" for 2011 like he told this reporter in February this year, who knows? We just might see that very combined Ah Beng Power on our silver screens.

"Broadway Beng - Jiak Liu Lian!" runs at The Esplanade from December 3 to 12. Tickets available from Sistic.
