Concerts galore come September

SINGAPORE : Singapore has just recovered from SINGfest and come September, a whole host of stars are set to hit our shores again.

These 12 concerts are just some of the shows coming our way over the next two months. Spanning a variety of genres such as pop, rock, jazz and hip hop, music fans will have to make some tough choices to avoid blowing their entire monthly entertainment budget.

Read on and have your credit card on standby, you might just want to grab some tickets after this. Or if you’re lucky, you could win some in our contests.


Avril Lavigne – The Best Damn Tour

First she was barred from performing in Kuala Lumpur as she was deemed ‘too sexy’, then the ban was reversed. Now there are talks of a protest at her August 29 show.

The drama continues to brew up north, but one thing’s for sure, the Canadian punk princess is headed for Singapore to put on her ‘best damn show'.

The Tour of Misia Discotheque Asia

She’s a small lady with a big voice, and a five-octave one at that. Also known as the “Mariah Carey of Japan”, Misia is set to blow the Singapore audience away in a one-night only concert. This will be her only Southeast Asian stop in a five-city tour which includes Taipei, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong.

Tony Orlando Yellow Ribbon World Tour

His 1973 hit song "Tie A Yellow Ribbon 'Round The Ole Oak Tree” became an anthem of hope, reunion and renewal, and Tony Orlando is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its recording with a long-awaited, world tour concert in Singapore.

Be prepared for an entertaining night with the American Icon as he turns back time with golden melodies such as “Knock Three Times”, “Sweet Gypsy Rose” and “He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)”.

Kanye West – Glow In The Dark Tour

Harder, better, faster, stronger. The nine-time Grammy Award-winning rapper and record producer kicked off his Glow In The Dark Tour in Seattle in April and has performed for over half a million people (and counting), making it the No.6 highest grossing tour in the world this year. Even P Diddy said it “changed his life”. Enough said.

Paul Anka World Tour 2008

His classic hit song, “My Way” has been covered by artistes such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand and the Gypsy Kings. Now watch him do it his way.

Named the 21st most successful artiste in Billboard's history with over 900 songs and 125 albums in a wide variety of languages, singer-songwriter Paul Anka will entertain you with his classics as well as new tunes.

Diana Krall Live In Concert

Ash - Live In Concert

British magazine Q ranked Ash number two on their list of the 50 bands to see before you die so if you haven’t done so, don’t let this one pass as this could very well be their last concert in Singapore. Last year, the Northern Irish rock trio released “Twilight of the Innocents”, which they said would be their last album ever. Catch the original lineup of Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Rick McMurray when they rock Fort Canning Park during the Singapore Beer Festival.

Peter Cincotti In Concert

Camera Obscura
