SINGAPORE : Get ready for another season of "The Amazing Race", which will take you around the globe from Bolivia to Kazakhstan.

The Emmy-winning reality series is now into its 13th season, and producers promise a series of "firsts" for the competition, including a mistake that prohibited one team from reaching the finish line as well as a first-ever stop in Cambodia.

It is also the first time "The Amazing Race" will be in Kazakhstan, a country made famous by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s satire "Borat".

Starting at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, follow these 11 teams - which include an estranged couple, hippies, fraternity boys and geeks - as they race over 300,000 miles in 23 days to the finish line, and the US$1 million grand prize.

Aja and Ty
Long-distance couple Aja and Ty have been dating for nine months. Aja, an aspiring actress and a makeup artist, lives in Los Angeles, while Ty, a banker, lives in Detroit. The longest time the couple have spent together was last Christmas for two weeks. They hope the race will help them determine if they can deal with living together on a daily basis.

Andrew and Dan
Dubbed "Team Superbad" by the other teams, fraternity brothers Andrew and Dan met while attending Arizona State University. They claim to be able to talk their way in and out of anything by cracking jokes and keeping the mood light. We’ll be counting on these two to be the court jesters of this season’s Race.

Anita and Arthur
The oldest participants of this season, married couple Anita, 63, and Arthur, 61, live on a farm, making and selling their own honey. They are no pushovers though, as they are well-acquainted with hard work. This pair of energetic and fun-loving hippies will bring their fair share of entertainment to the Race.

Anthony and Stephanie
Anthony, a mortgage broker, and Stephanie, a financial saleswoman, who got back together after a year-long break-up, hope to get engaged if they make it through the Race. The often-bickering couple are putting their relationship to the test, and they hope to come out stronger than before.

Kelly and Christy
Decade-long best friends Kelly and Christy have seen each other through their marriages and breakups. Will they overcome all odds and become the first all-female team to win the prize money?

Ken and Tina
Estranged couple Ken and Tina have been separated for nine months, and are hoping the Race will put their marriage back together. Ken, an ex-NFL player who played for both the St Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers, is currently a home builder, while Tina is a business owner and a CEO.

Marisa and Brooke
Best friends Marisa and Brooke are out to show that they can be strong competitors despite being blonde pin-ups. Keep your eyes on this pair who are not opposed to flirting to get their way.

Mark and Bill
Mark and Bill are friends who bond over comics and games, and they are proud to be geeks. These buddies who have auditioned for "The Amazing Race" ever since the third season, have even done "extensive research" on what clothes to wear and bags to carry. Leaving behind their treasured toys, they are ready to prove that geeks have what it takes to be competitive as well.

Nick and Starr
This team of siblings are extremely competitive and driven, and they believe that they will be a formidable team. Nick, a Broadway actor, and Starr, a former cheerleader with the Dallas Cowboys, hope to strengthen their relationship on this adventure - and do not get on one another’s nerves while doing so.

Terence and Sarah
Dating couple Terence and Sarah hope that being well-travelled, physically fit, and highly competitive will help them win. Sarah who works on Wall Street, and Terence, in real estate, are determined to overcome their glaring differences to prove to themselves that they belong with each other.

Toni and Dallas
Single mother Toni and son Dallas hope to spend some quality family time together which they have been missing out on since Dallas left for college. With Dallas’s constant flirting and sarcasm, and Toni’s laughter and personality, they are expected to be an entertaining pair on the Race.

The 13th season of "The Amazing Race" premieres on AXN (StarHub Ch 19) on September 29 at 9pm, and will be shown every Monday.
