SINGAPORE: Bollywood will never trump Hollywood, but Indian films will extend its reach further in the next five years with better scripts and technology, said star actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan was a special guest at the annual Zee Carnival, held for the second time in Singapore.
Despite the growing popularity of Bollywood movies, 'King' Khan said Indian films still have lots to learn from Hollywood.
"People who are making films now need to be a little careful about their screenplay and storytelling sense. If they can dress it up in a way where everybody can understand the language, make them shorter, without intervals... in the next five or six years, we will be able to have a further reach," he said.
The expansion means even non-Indian audiences will be exposed to the films.
Mukund Cairae, Zee Entertainment, Asia Pacific, said: "Over the past seven or ten years, you could see a lot of films that are being created for audiences who are out of India, and they're definitely more for a global Indian audience.
"So, when you have Indian neighbours and they talk about a particular Indian movie or a couple of songs, the effect rubs off."
The growth has also motivated events like the Zee Carnival in London and Singapore.
