SINGAPORE: Tunes by composers Gabriel Faure, Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart may not be the popular choice of music for most youths. But Channel NewsAsia caught up with a boys' choir from Monaco who love performing their pieces.

The youngest among them may just be nine years old, but age does not deter the Little Singers of Monaco from doing what they love.

Dubbed "the little singing ambassadors" of Monaco, the boys' choir is best known for spreading their message of peace through their music.

Jacques Beasley, 13, said: "It gives you a good experience... you learn new cultures and stuff like that. My favourite experience is probably my first tour because everything was new to me. Being in Asia was my dream... I really liked it."

Another 13-year-old singer, James Serra, said: "I've been in (the choir) for three years and I've done three places. My favourite was Canada... we went to different cities like Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa."

So what does it feel like travelling with 31 boys?

Pierre Debat, director and conductor of the choir, said: "Big pleasure, great adventures, of course. I conduct them all over the world and it is a fantastic experience to bring them everywhere and to show them different cultures from all over the world. It's fantastic for me."

The Little Singers of Monaco was in Singapore in early July as part of the choir's Asian tour. The proceeds from the boys' concerts at Victoria Concert Hall went to the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Student Relief Fund.
