Bhutan counts down to royal wedding

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Mint is producing an exclusive 20,000 coins for the Royal Wedding of Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and his fiancee Jetsun Pema.

It will also produce two specially minted one-kilogramme coins which will be presented at the wedding on Thursday to the King and Queen as their Royal Wedding Coin Gift.

The main wedding ceremony is set to take place in a stunning 17th-century fortress surrounded by mountains and built at the confluence of two fast-running rivers in the ancient capital Punakha.

The Singapore Mint is the official mint for the Royal Wedding.

A special allotment of the coins will be for sale at the Singapore Mint from Thursday.
