SINGAPORE: If you're a fan of designer toys, anime and games, get ready for an explosion of pop culture.

Come late June, Singapore will be launching the first-ever toy and comic convention in Southeast Asia.

The two-day event at Suntec Singapore aims to be a showcase for the best in pop culture which will include toys, comics, animation, gaming and more.

For example, Manga fans can look forward to meet Italian designer, Simone Legno, who's famous for his ‘tokidoki’ characters. Also in town, the creators known as ‘Devilrobots’ who are behind To-Fu Oyako.

Other popular comic artists include Gary Erskine as well as Joseph Wong Chak, of ‘Lao Fu Zi: fame’.

Admission is free for public and they can expect lots of competitions which will involve Cosplayers and LEGO enthusiasts.

The Singapore Toy and Comic Convention is the brainchild of local toy designer Play Imaginative and will open on 28 June. It is supported by the Media Development Authority and the Singapore Tourism Board. - CNA/vm
