SINGAPORE: Michael Jackson fever lives on in the Philippines. One restaurant is paying tribute to the King of Pop through their Michael Jackson-inspired menu.

The all-day breakfast restaurant has been packing in a full house ever since their Michael Jackson-inspired dishes hit the tables.

Drawing inspiration from one of the best-selling singles, "Beat It" combines scrambled eggs with smoked salmon to tempt the palate.

Meanwhile, the colourful pancakes sprinkled with candies, gummy bears and whipped cream, hopes to draw you to visit Neverland Ranch.

And to rival Stevie Wonder's "Ebony and Ivory", is MJ's Black or White which is made up of double stuffed oreo pancakes topped with cookies and vanilla ice cream.

And to celebrate the greatest selling album of all time, the "Thriller" double waffle combines the sinful delights of dark chocolate, peanut butter and raspberry syrup.

Apparently, Michael Jackson's comfort food is cheese fondue. So as a fitting tribute to the King of Pop, one of the dishes offered at H & E Rockstar is a warm cheese fondue aptly called "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough."

Chef Peter Ayson, H & E Rockstar, said: "It's a lot of food and a lot of dip. You can dip sausages, ham, bread, potato, and it's made of four kinds of cheeses mix together. It was his comfort food. So his fans can feel what his comfort food is, what he goes home to to feel good and that's what it is. We want it to be something fun, something to celebrate his death, not mourn. So we created these interesting dishes that look exciting and are filling and make people happy."

For Michael Jackson fans, celebrating their idol's memories through good food and music is their own way of paying tribute to a great music icon.

Lorna Dosado, a Michael Jackson fan, said: “It's like his spirit is with us while we are eating. We see him in his music videos and we feel his presence in the food.”

For fans who are still grieving for the King of Pop, travelling down memory lane while tucking into good food may be a good way to remember their idol. - CNA/vm
