Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: Bewitched, bothered and bewildered

SINGAPORE : One is a short but oh-so-cute "Chosen One" boy-wizard who grew up before our very eyes. The other, a Hogwarts hottie (remember Cedric Diggory?) turned "Twilight" heartthrob who makes teenage girls whimper at a flick of his dishevelled hair. But does "Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe feel a brewing rivalry against Robert Pattinson and his gang of fangs?

"I think I am one of the two people in the world who hasn't seen 'Twilight'," said Radcliffe, with a chuckle, at the London press conference for film No 6, "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince". He was answering a question on what he thought of his former Hogwarts schoolmate turned Byronic vampire.

"Make that three … " piped in the platinum-blond Tom Felton, who plays Harry's on-screen nemesis Draco Malfoy, to a roomful of laughter.

"Four!" deadpanned Michael Gambon, the British thesp who plays Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore, as Potter series producer David Heyman squeezed in a "Erm … Five!"

"The thing that is interesting for me, is that 'Twilight' is the only other franchise that comes close to 'Potter' in terms of the mania that surrounds it, the attention that the leads get and just how global it is," said Radcliffe. "To actually be able to watch this other franchise kind of explode in a similar way is really, really interesting."

And before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, Dan the Man assured the room that he enjoyed the time on the set with Pattinson. "I won't pretend we're best mates or knew each other really well but we really enjoyed working with each other, or at least I enjoyed working with him!" he said. "He's doing brilliantly, which is fantastic."

So fantastic that Radcliffe reckoned maybe a "Twilight" DVD viewing at his house was in order. Which probably isn't going to happen.

"I think I'd rather watch the cricket," Heyman replied.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is in cinemas now. -
