Definitely a chick flick, was my date's confident verdict. Maybe, I retorted, but it's got a soundtrack of Nirvana and Belle and Sebastian tunes, a Bill Clinton "cameo" and Rachel Weisz in it. All of these automatically qualify Definitely, Maybe as a guy chick flick.

In the movie directed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason writer Adam Brooks, 30-something dad Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) is about to get divorced, which everybody knows is the perfect time to reminisce about the ups and downs of your love life.

So, he gives his daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin) a convoluted story about the three hotties in his life: The college sweetheart Emily (Elizabeth Banks), the ambitious wannabe journalist Summer (Weisz) and the wild-card friend April (Isla Fisher). Maya has to find out which one is her mother and her dad's one true love.

This essentially feel-good romantic comedy is wrapped in an enjoyable nostalgic trip through the '90s, when Bill had yet to meet Monica, cellphones were enormous walkie-talkies and everyone knew who Kurt Cobain was (except for Hayes, who was too busy working for the Clinton campaign).

Snappy dialogue and fleshed out characters bring the movie to life. Reynolds is as likeable as chick flick lead dudes go: Funny, vulnerable, good-looking, smart and not one alpha-male bone on his body. Weisz and Fisher's characters are also well-acted and this is probably going to be one of the final few movies where child actress Breslin is still capable of tugging at your heartstrings.

Women will dig Reynolds. Guys will dig the fact that there are three beautiful women to distract them from the fluff. All in all, Definitely, Maybe is actually a win-win option for a movie date. - TODAY/ra
