RATING:

Escape from Huang Shi, starring Chow Yun Fatt, Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, is an attempt to tell the true life story of George Hogg (Rhys Meyers) who led 60 orphaned boys on a treacherous 1,000-mile journey along the Silk Road, through the mountains into the safety of the Gobi desert, during a war-ravaged China in the late 1930s.

Unfortunately, between trying to stifle your giggles at Rhys Meyer's halting attempt at Mandarin, groaning at Chow's American accent as he spouts his over- rehearsed English lines, and cringing at the forced chemistry between Radha Mitchell and Rhys Meyers, you'll find yourself thinking of ways to escape from the cinema. -
