Kamil Haque at the 2004 Athens Games. Haque is the son of one of Singapore's 50 Greatest Athletes, Anwarul Haque.

The crux of the Olympian account occurred in the Archive's Section of the Stadium complex... I got my father to pose next to a picture of Tokyo Games poster. For me, this was truly a touching moment. Seeing my father, who has always been a pretty straight laced man, clearly experiencing an emotional moment was rare as it was heartfelt.

Many at times, "Greatmens'" contributions would be forgotten or left unknown till the day they depart, when glory bestowed on them...

If only more could be done to highlight and enlighten Singaporeans, on Mr Rajaratnam's tireless efforts in building Singapore before 25th Feb 2006. Many, especially young Singaporeans are unaware of the Pledge that they mumbled through every morning assembly was drafted by Mr Rajaratnam.

Indeed, many of us, including myself, could not truly understand the hardships that our leaders went through.

Thank you Sir, for without your fighting spirits, WE will not be here today... You are a true Singaporean, Singaporean!

I deeply mourn your loss. At the same time, I celebrate your life, your contributions and the legacy you left behind. I am so very proud and privileged to have had you as our leader.

May we continue to be guided by your words.

God bless you and may you rest in peace.
