Kamil Haque at the 2004 Athens Games. Haque is the son of one of Singapore's 50 Greatest Athletes, Anwarul Haque.

Seeing my father, who has always been a pretty straight laced man, clearly experiencing an emotional moment was rare as it was heartfelt.

His passing away is a sad moment but he has left us with an ideal moment that we can honour and remember him from the bottom of our hearts with a state funeral on his Birthday today.

A true-blue Singaporean Mr Rajaratnam was. His body, soul and spirit transcended race, language or religion. I remember him best as a man full of ideas. His speeches and writings never tire me at all during my growing-up years. In fact, his ideas always left me spellbound and wondered, 'Hey, why I never thought of that!' Indeed, he is an Aristotle to me!
