Seeing my father, who has always been a pretty straight laced man, clearly experiencing an emotional moment was rare as it was heartfelt.

I am sadden to hear the passing of this elder statesman who have guided a young nation through her most turbulent period...S Rajaratnam was not a poltician in the strictest sense .undoubtly lover of books and words , he gave words to national ideas and together with Lee Kuan Yew ,Dr Goh Keng Swee and many many others made Singapore what she is today

He will be deeply missed by Singaporeans near and far

I like to send my condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Mr S Rajaratnam on his passing. I will always remember him for penning the Pledge. Its not easy for such a tiny country to have multi racial, language and religion and to succeed economically and to be able to live peacefully. I like to thank Mr S Rajaratnam for his contribution to Singapore and I acknowledge him as one of the founding fathers of Singapore. His spirit will always be in my heart.
