RATING:

SINGAPORE : "My Sassy Girl" has decided to go Hollywood and what better way to enter Tinseltown’s fray for the first time than through the popular vampire route with a new name, no less.

Kindly helping Caucasians who have so much trouble pronouncing Asian names, popular South-Korean actress Jeon Ji Hyun is now Gianna Jun.

She’s the chosen one to bring anime heroine and vampire hunter Saya - a 400-year-old Halfing (born of a human father and a vampire mother - now there’s a family photo) in a 16-year-old-body - to full live-action glory.

Based on the cult anime of the same name which has spawned mangas, novels, video games, and even a 50-episode TV series, "Blood: the Last Vampire" tells a tale of demon-slaying, revenge-taking and superhuman samurai skills.

There are enough requisite high-octane fight scenes to please action movie fans. That said, for what seems like a well-budgeted film, one wonders if any of the money was used to light the film at all.

A paper-thin plot, forgettable cast and trite script, unfortunately, leads to the film’s inevitably slaying.
