SINGAPORE: If you are planning a visit to the Southern Islands, you will soon have to either charter a boat from private operators or use the regular ferry boat service to Kusu and St John's Islands.

The Sentosa Leisure Group (SLG) currently manages nine of the southern islands and oversees the daily scheduled ferries to Kusu and St John's Islands.

But from 2 May, SLG says it will no longer manage the ferry services to the southern islands when the contract with its ferry provider expires.

However, a ready pool of 12 private operators will be available for visitors who wish head to visit outlying islands.
