SINGAPORE : The Singapore Cruise Centre has said it is planning to renovate its current facility.

This could include expanding the current departure and arrival halls.

Renovation works are expected to start by middle of this year.

Cheong Teow Cheng, President, Singapore Cruise Centre, said: "Our plans for this year would be to try to concentrate on retrofitting our terminal, so that we can give more space to passengers for their comfort."

The move comes amid growing competition, as the sector gears up for a second cruise terminal in Singapore.

Cruise passengers have been on the rise. Singapore Cruise Centre expects to see a million cruise passengers this year, up from 940,000 passengers in 2007. - CNA/ms
