SINGAPORE: Pacific Healthcare has bought a 49 per cent stake in Bangkok Mediplex, a Thai medical centre.

The company will also take a stake in Holistic Medical Centre, which is said to be the largest integrative medical facility in Southeast Asia.

The deals will cost a combined S$15 million.

The stake in Bangkok Mediplex, a non-hospital based dedicated medical centre, marks the company's foray into the Thai medical sector.

The acquisition followed an announcement in April that Pacific Healthcare had been awarded a contract to conceptualise and manage the centre.

Bangkok Mediplex, located in the heart of Bangkok's Sukhumvit district, is Thailand's first non-hospital based dedicated medical centre.

Pacific Healthcare CEO William Chong said the acquisition will help the company replicate its premier specialist healthcare services model in Singapore to Bangkok.

Pacific Healthcare currently operates five major integrated medical centres in Singapore and has centres in India and China. - CNA/vm
