SINGAPORE : An ASEAN Data Centre Alliance has been formed to cater to the needs of first-tier telcos, government agencies, banks and other businesses.
The alliance will become one of the biggest data centre operators in the Southeast Asian region.
It will group 1-Net Singapore, CMT Telecom in Vietnam, the AIMS Asia Group in Malaysia and T.C.C. Technology in Thailand.
The grouping is projecting an annual turnover of US$77 million next year.
The announcement was made at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Intel and the DCA to accelerate Green Data Centre deployments in the region.
The alliance aims to apply energy-saving technologies as part of its contribution to reduce the effects of global warming.
In a statement, the alliance said Intel was chosen as a partner because of its silicon technology leadership and the breadth of its experience in data centre solutions.
Intel will advise the alliance on green- and energy-efficient solutions that analyse and optimise the energy usage of things like transformers, uninterruptable power supply and memory. - CNA/ms
