LIMA, Peru: Singapore and Japan have agreed on the importance of following through on the decisions made during last week's G20 Summit in Washington DC.

The summit saw leaders from the Group of 20 richest countries and emerging economic powers discussing ways to deal with the impact of the global financial crisis.

Singapore's Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo discussed the summit with his Japanese counterpart, Hirofumi Nakasone, at the sidelines of the 20th APEC Ministerial Meeting in Lima, Peru, on Thursday.

Both ministers reaffirmed the good relations between their countries and agreed to further strengthen cooperation, especially during the consecutive APEC Chairmanships of Singapore in 2009 and Japan in 2010.

Mr Yeo also attended an informal foreign ministers' breakfast meeting hosted by Peruvian Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Garcia Belaunde.

The APEC ministers discussed a range of issues, including the Doha Development Agenda negotiations, the global economic situation and its impact on developing and developed economies. - CNA/de
