SINGAPORE: India's Economic Times newspaper reported that Singapore's Changi Airports International (CAI) has bought a 26 per cent stake in Bengal Aerotropolis Projects.

This is a new airport project, costing over US$2 billion, in India's West Bengal state.

No financial details were given but the report said CAI will be the technical collaborator for the project.

CAI declined to comment on the report.

But last year, it signed a Technical Services Agreement with Bengal Aerotropolis Projects.

Under the agreement, CAI will conduct training for the project's senior management personnel.

The project will be India's first privately-owned airport expected to be completed in about five years.

India's Economic Times also reported that CAI is trying to woo another firm from Singapore, Jurong International, to set up an industrial park near the airport. - CNA/vm
