SINGAPORE: Keppel Seghers Belgium has clinched a contract worth about S$22.3 million to provide waste-to-energy (WTE) technology to a plant in Hangu in China's Tianjin province.
The wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Integrated Engineering Limited was awarded the contract by Tianjin Binhai Environmental Industry Development.
The plant is set to be located in Tianjin's Binhai Technical & Economic Development Area.
It will be equipped with three incineration lines to treat 1,500 tonnes of municipal waste daily and it will be able to generate more than 20 MW of green energy.
Keppel Seghers will be providing equipment for the furnace, boiler and flue gas cleaning components of the plant.
The plant is expected to start operations in 2011.
Earlier this year, Keppel Seghers secured a S$30 million contract to provide technology to one of the largest WTE plants in China which treats 2,000 tonnes of municipal waste daily. - CNA/vm
