SINGAPORE: Mainboard-listed See Hup Seng has received a summons from the Ministry of Manpower in connection with an accident that caused the death of an employee of SHS System.

SHS System is a contractor and a unit of See Hup Seng. The firm says the accident took place while the employee was at work at See Hup Seng's factory in Tuas in August last year.

The firm is being charged under the Workplace Safety and Health Act for failing to take necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of employees hired by a contractor when at work.

The maximum penalty that See Hup Seng faces is a fine not exceeding half a million dollars. The firm is seeking legal advice on the charge.
