SINGAPORE : Mainboard-listed massage chair maker Osim International has posted a net profit of S$7 million for the third quarter on stronger sales.

This is a turnaround from the S$7 million loss it recorded in the year-ago period.

Revenue for the three months ended September rose 6.9 per cent to S$122.7 million.

Osim said it increased its focus on creating demand through its line-up of innovative products.

In China, where it has about 200 Osim outlets, the consumer market has been expanding despite the global downturn. The firm said it continues to enjoy strong sales there.

Looking ahead, Osim said consumer sentiment is improving and it is cautiously optimistic of the coming quarters as it will launch a range of new products.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, it expects net profit in the current financial year to be higher than that of a year ago. - CNA/ms
