SINGAPORE: Luxury cruise liner, Star Cruises, will change its name to Genting Hong Kong with effect from November 30.

But the stock code of the company on the Singapore Exchange remains unchanged.

The firm said on Monday the change in name will not affect any of the rights of the shareholders.

In September, the firm proposed the name change to align with its corporate strategy of diversifying into land-based integrated resorts, casino and entertainment businesses.

It will also reflect the firm's primary place of listing and its affiliation with the Genting Group.

Genting Berhad, the holding company of Genting Group, is a substantial shareholder of the firm indirectly.
