SINGAPORE: An independent director at mainboard-listed property investment firm, Japan Land, has resigned from the company's board.

Lawyer and MP for Tampines GRC Sin Boon Ann quit as he was not satisfied that the firm has adequate control of its operating subsidiary, Japan Asia Land Limited.

The resignation was disclosed by Japan Land on Monday, although the effective date of cessation was last Wednesday. Mr Sin also sits on the board of about ten other firms.

Last month, Japan Land announced that its first quarter net loss widened to S$3.7 million – worse than the S$0.6 million loss incurred over the same period last year.
