SINGAPORE: In a move to remain competitive, Changi Airport Group said it will continue to provide across-the-board landing fee rebates to all airlines in 2010.
Although there are signs of a nascent recovery in the aviation industry, Changi said many of its airline partners still face pressure on yields. Thus, it will scale back this cost relief measure gradually, in line with the economic recovery.
Changi will provide a 15-per-cent landing fee rebate for the first six months of 2010 and a 10-per-cent rebate for the second half of next year.
Currently, Changi grants all airlines a 25-per-cent landing rebate.
The continuation of the rebate was announced alongside the launch of a new programme that will provide incentives to airlines and Changi's airport partners to boost traffic and strengthen its air traffic network.
The Changi Airport Growth Initiative (CAGI) will work with each partner to develop customised measures to spur growth, support innovation and boost Changi's competitiveness.
For example, airlines could be given incentives to start routes to new destinations. Ground handlers and freight forwarders could also be given rewards to enhance their product and service offerings at Changi.
Changi said that it will also help new airlines to start operations at the Singapore airport.
