Tang Kin Fei appointed as deputy chairman of IE Singapore

SINGAPORE: Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang has appointed Mr Tang Kin Fei as deputy chairman of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, starting 1 January 2010 for two years.

Mr Tang is currently group president and CEO of SembCorp Industries. He serves on boards of business councils and trade associations, including the Singapore Business Federation Council and the APEC Business Advisory Council.

In addition, three new members have been appointed to the board.

They include Mr Robert Yap, the chairman and CEO of YCH Group, and Colonel Perry Lim Cheng Yeow, the head of the Joint Plans & Transformation Department at the Ministry of Defence. Mr Chew Hock Yong, the first Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, is also appointed.

And three other members were re-appointed to the board.

They include Mr Quek Chin Thean, the CEO of Global Residual & BP Marine, Integrated Supply & Trading, Eastern Hemisphere, BP Singapore. Also re-appointed are Mr Seah Moon Ming, the deputy CEO of Singapore Technologies Engineering, and Mr Soo Kok Leng, the chairman of Singapore Technologies Electronics.

In all, there are 11 members on IE Singapore's board.

Meanwhile, two new members have also been appointed to the JTC Corporation's board. They are Ms Chen Soon Bin, the managing director of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, and Mr Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara, the managing partner at Wong Partnership.

Mr Jen Kwong Hua, the managing director of Micron Semiconductor Asia, and Mrs Cheong Koon Hean, the CEO of the Urban Redevelopment Authority, have been re-appointed to the JTC board.

There are nine members in the JTC board in total.

All appointments take effect from 1 January 2010.
